PRIMA 2026 | Funding Opportunities

The PRIMA 2026 Annual Work Programme is dedicated to research and innovation in water management, agricultural systems, and agri-food value chains in the Mediterranean region.

Areas of focus:

The programme continues to implement PRIMA’s Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), supporting innovative solutions for sustainable water management, resilient agricultural systems, and sustainable agri-food value chains through a water-energy-food-ecosystems nexus approach.

In its three thematic areas, PRIMA focuses on specific gaps:

• Water management: decentralized solutions, desalination, resource efficiency, and climate resilience.
• Agricultural systems: new foods for circular and sustainable systems, precision agriculture, and innovation in animal production.
• Agri-food value chain: sustainable transformation of perishable products and digital traceability.

Funding Structure:

The 2026 Work Programme is organized into two main sections:

• Section 1: Three calls for proposals covering water management, agricultural systems, and the agri-food value chain, with a total budget of €10.815 million for each call.
• Section 2: One multi-thematic call covering all thematic areas, with a total budget of €36 million.

DEADLINE: Applications are now open, and the deadline for submissions for both sections is May 15, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
