With two international awards for his projects in the field of hospitality and restaurant design.
Esteve Niubó Albareda has left his mark on iconic spaces such as the original ADOS restaurant and the spectacular renovation of the Big Ben nightclub in Mollerussa – Golmés.
Today, we talk about his most personal project: Torre Pla d’Urgell.
A unique space that blends family tradition, architectural design, and contemporary functionality. At Exquisitia.com, we had the pleasure of speaking with him to learn how an old farmhouse has been transformed into a modern and exclusive venue for private and corporate events in the heart of the Lleida plain.
From historic family farmhouse to event venue: Torre Pla d’Urgell is born
Exquisitia: Esteve, how did the idea of turning the family farmhouse into an event space come about?
Esteve Niubó: The farmhouse—or “torre”—has always been a special place for me. Its history goes back several generations in my family, and over time, I felt the need to give it a new life. After years of being unused, I thought about creating something that would connect tradition with today’s functionality. Instead of keeping it just for the family, I decided it could be a space where people could celebrate important moments in a unique setting, combining modern comfort with rural charm.
Architecture with soul: preserving the essence, shaping the present
Exquisitia: What was the biggest architectural challenge you faced during the renovation?
Esteve Niubó: Without a doubt, preserving authenticity. I didn’t want to make an aggressive intervention, but rather enhance what the farmhouse already had—like its stone walls and large windows. These are elements with soul, with history. At the same time, it was essential to equip it with modern comforts and technology: from efficient climate control systems to infrastructure for business meetings. The challenge was finding a balance between rustic character and contemporary functionality.
Emotional design: spaces with history and new possibilities
Exquisitia: The space offers endless possibilities. Which would you highlight?
Esteve Niubó:
-
The interior courtyard of the property, enclosed and exclusively used for the reserved event, equipped with a barbecue area, restrooms, and large, secure, and clearly defined outdoor areas covering 720 m².
-
The 120 m² indoor hall, with earth and wooden finishes, ideal for events with more than 50 guests. A bright space thanks to the lateral entry of natural light, with the option to fully open onto the interior courtyard. Fully equipped and adapted for all kinds of celebrations and gatherings.
A versatile farmhouse for all kinds of events
Exquisitia: What kind of events have you hosted so far?
Esteve Niubó: We’ve hosted a beautiful variety: small weddings, family gatherings, corporate meetings, leadership trainings… Its versatility is one of its biggest strengths. And the setting helps a lot—being surrounded by nature invites people to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with what truly matters.
